Three Things to Consider When Wrapping Your Pallets

Focus Packaging supply a range of pallet wrapping machines to ensure that businesses have an efficient system in place whilst saving on money. A lot of time can be saved, too, with the elimination of manual wrapping. However, there are still a few things that you can do to make sure that this time isn’t wasted with careless mistakes.

It’s important that you consider any possible outcomes which may result in you doubling your work load and delaying your business schedule.

Check your product

It’s always best to double and triple check whatever items you’re wrapping before pressing start on your machine. Especially if you’re shipping the product off, you need to ensure that the product is of the correct weight and is in fact what you intend to send. This way you save on stretch film wastage from having to re-wrap.

After you’ve wrapped the product, make sure that any labels have been made clearly visible so that the packaging doesn’t cover any vital information. Even if it’s not intended for transit, to prevent any problems arising when accounting for stock, make sure you’re storing your pallets away in the right area of the warehouse.

Implement a colour coded system

To avoid any confusion between wrapped products, it might be an idea to introduce a coded system with the use of different coloured stretch film. By doing this, products may prove easier to find if, say, you colour code to correspond with weights of products.

You could also colour-code items that are meant for dispatch so that they don’t accidentally get stored away in the warehouse. Colour codes create a more efficient system that could save substantial time within your working day.

Wrap them tightly and make sure they’re secure

Again, to save on wastage, make certain that your pallets are wrapped tightly and secure so that the product doesn’t become loose and tear away the layer of film. This shouldn’t be an issue with our machines as they are tailored to pallets that are a range of weights and sizes. However, you may feel that certain products need an extra layer so that items don’t become slack and cause injury.

To maximise on the organisation of your business, an investment in a pallet wrapping machine could be a beneficial addition to the overall operation of your warehouse. For any enquiries about our products, feel free to contact us at 0333 123 6666 to see what we can do for you.
