General guide to pallet wrappers and their relationship to stretch film
Are all power stretch pallet wrappers the same: YES/NO
Are all stretch films the same: YES/NO
Assumption: A 23 mcr roll of film has circa 1390 meters on the roll
Assumption: It takes 53 meters of film to wrap the average pallet (12 revolutions)
This is only an example: – check prices on the day

General guide to retention/containment force,
It is what is required from the film for different weights and types of loads
Retention/containment force is what holds the load together while on the pallet. It also locks the load to the pallet. Stops it from slipping off when in transit.
Load weight in kgs | 50 < 200 kg | 200<500 kgs | 500< 760 kgs | 760< 1000 kgs |
Containment /retention force required | 2-5 lbs | 5-7 lbs | 7 < 12 lbs | 12-20 lbs |
Load types
examples |
Paper towels empty PET bottles & containers | Stable Regular cartons | Heavy unstable Bags of sugar. Filled paper sacks | Very Heavy & unstable. All liquids and plastic sacks |
Examples |
The ideal wrapped pallet should be wrapped with 4 different levels of tension
Only our Alpha 508 has these exclusive features along with a 300% fixed stretch.
Tension 1.
Tight. locks load to pallet |
Roping device.
Secures film to pallet & keeps it clear of fork lift |
Tension 2. Varies.
Containment force to suit load without damaging cartons |
Tension 3.
Holds loads together @ top of the pallet |
Tension 4
Pulls load together as it descends. Stops it separating. |
